More than 1 million Georgians fully vaccinated on eve of eligibility expanding

 ATLANTA — quite a million Georgians are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before another expansion of who is eligible to urge the vaccine.


Right now, quite 1.6 million Georgians have had a minimum of one dose of the two-dose Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.

On Monday, nearly 3.5 million more Georgians will become eligible, including all adults over age 55 and other people 16 years old and older with high-risk medical conditions. Those conditions include cancer, diabetes, high vital sign, pregnancy, asthma, and more.

Channel 2′s Christian Jennings was in South Fulton County at the mass vaccination site at the Delta Flight Museum. Officials there hope to supply up to 4,000 shots each day starting Monday.

On Wednesday, five more mass vaccination sites will open across the state in Waycross, Savannah, Columbus, Sandersville, and Emerson.

A FEMA-run mass vaccination site also will open at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Marjorie Todd-Speight was all smiles as she left the museum.

“I was feeling relief getting into, but in the beginning, I feel even more because I even have grandchildren I would like to be here for them,” Todd-Speight said.

A retired Delta employee said he's able to travel again. Miguel Sosa got his first vaccine on Sunday. He said the primary place he wants to travel in Argentina.

“I have my mother in Argentina,” Sosa said. “She’s 93 years old, and that I haven’t seen her for 14 months. I used to be able to go when this happened. We were at the airport once they closed the border.”
