30 Percent Of Newton Residents Have Gotten A Vaccine Dose

 NEWTON, MA — Almost a 3rd of the city's nearly 92,000 residents have received a minimum of one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, consistent with new state data released Thursday.


The state's vaccine rollout prioritizing the foremost vulnerable residents is bearing fruit in Waltham, where those 75 or older have received the second-most vaccinations despite making up just 8 percent of the city's population. Ninety-two percent of these 75 and older have received a minimum of one dose, while 69 percent of them are fully vaccinated.

Seventy-four percent of these 65-74 have received a minimum of one dose while 24 percent are fully vaccinated. That group only makes up 27 percent of all the fully vaccinated people in Newton.

50-64 — 19 percent

30-49 —18 percent

20-29 —9 percent

0-19 — 0 percent

Overall, 27,386 of 91,690 residents in Newton have received a minimum of one dose and 15,607 are fully vaccinated.

The positive test rate fell from .64 percent to .54 percent, while the typical daily incidence rate per 100,000 also fell from 16.7 to 13.2
